NEW for 2009
Bait retrictions
With the all 3 lakes being let every week of the season we are now having to introduce a bait restriction for those fishing. From 2009 on Bills Lake 1, 2 and 3 there is a 15kg per person total bait limit. This in theory could be made up of 5kg boilies, 5kg pellet, 5kg particles. All serious anglers will understand this decision is aimed at everybodys good interest and I am sure will lead to more productive fishing throughout the season. You wouldn't want to be following a group who had filled the lake in the week before would you? Of course, you can use plastic baits, particle hooker baits such as Brazils e.t.c.
Also, the cooking of particle baits on-site is now banned and all particles must be purchased from us. Our freshly prepared particles are as cheap or cheaper than UK bait suppliers plus you will save space and weight in the car!
Anyone seen to be dissregarding the bait limit will be delt with accordingly.
This lake has a pressured time during the season. It sees a lot of different styles of fishing and many different presentations of bait and as you can imagine, some good some not so good! I am at the lake every day and see many, many fish being caught and generally it always seems to fall to the same tactics… KEEPING IT SIMPLE.
One of the best methods that constantly will put a fish on the bank during the warmer months is the …”little and often approach” which as it says means you add very little bait but at regular intervals.
First, find a spot you feel is a good place. Either a nice clear gravel patch or a little plateau. Then cast to that spot and mark your line so that you know the next time you are right on the spot. You can mark your line with power gum or even electrical tape so you get the distance right every time.
The following baits and combinations seem to work well on Bill's Lake 1.
- Chops and Hemp
- Small PVA Bag and Paste
- Tigers
