Bait retrictions
With the all 3 lakes being let every week of the season we are now having to introduce a bait restriction for those fishing. From 2009 on Bills Lake 1, 2 and 3 there is a 15kg per person total bait limit. This in theory could be made up of 5kg boilies, 5kg pellet, 5kg particles. All serious anglers will understand this decision is aimed at everybodys good interest and I am sure will lead to more productive fishing throughout the season. You wouldn't want to be following a group who had filled the lake in the week before would you? Of course, you can use plastic baits, particle hooker baits such as Brazils e.t.c.
Also, the cooking of particle baits on-site is now banned and all particles must be purchased from us. Our freshly prepared particles are as cheap or cheaper than UK bait suppliers plus you will save space and weight in the car!
Anyone seen to be dissregarding the bait limit will be delt with accordingly.
This lake is probably the easiest of the 3 to fish. The use of meat in the colder months works well a does the use of Paste around your Boilie. On some of the swims you need to be able to cast 100 yds to get to the “out of bounds” bank. You can of course use a baitboat!
Last year we had some major problems with weed caused mainly by the fact that the lake was very new and had never had the quantity of carp in it before. Now, with over 2 tonnes of carp and also some treatment taking place this winter it should and will be a whole lot better. I would say that there will still be weed beds, but not as there was before.
The way to fish this lake is definitely to use lead clips and not in-line leads. Once the fish is on then the lead normally comes off. This is the thing that catches in the weed!! With your rods held very high the fish normally rises up to the surface. There is a boat for you to use for the landing of weeded fish if it all goes wrong.
In this lake there are some really huge Grass Carp. Last season there were a couple caught but only to 40lbs. The shoals we have seen include many to over the 50lbs mark.. perhaps bigger ???? These fish love particle and especially Maize. They take very much like a Bream so don’t be thinking you’ve got a bream doing the single BLEEP… BLEEP… BLEEP… HIT IT! it could be a Grassie!
Good Luck to you all.!
