Bills Lake 1
The lake has suddenly come to life……
The weather has cooled down and we’ve even started to have a little rain !
The fishing was really good all around the lake much to the delight of the anglers as the previous reports have been…..to say a little…crap!
The start of the week of the 19th saw the lake closed to paying guests and we had some friends fish it for the week.
On peg Number One we had Fabian and Alex.
On The Bench we had Steve and his girl Sam.
On the Bench we had Bob and Jude and with them cam Jamie (a first time visitor the France !)
First on the action was Fabian with fish coming from a plateau at 20 meters. He was using a bait from Ace Baits along with some Tiger Nuts. This rod never stopped all week !!!
The middle gravel bar produced fish as did the corner to the railway. None stop action all week with over 70 runs and 60+ fish landed between the two anglers.
The biggest of the fish went 54lbs and the number of 40lbs+ was embarrassing !!! A big well done as Fabian smashed his previous P.B. 7 times in the week.
I nearly forgot to mention that Fabian had a 70lbs Catfish on a Chub live bait and Alex had a 96 lbs Catfish on a Tench live bait !! (see the pics in the gallery !! AWSOME!)
Steve on the Bench had a great week with his first fish going 37lbs+. No photo as Sam was asleep!!
The week saw Steve land over 20 fish with the biggest going 44lbs+ another good P.B. buster for him. This along with many good 30’s made a really good week for him
Bob and Jude has action also with fish to 41lbs+
The runs were a little more difficult to come by but with a little clever positioning of the bait boat the fish came. Their mid week bar B.Q was appreciated by all even though it was in the rain. Oh yes, didn’t I tell you that the weather changed yet again !!
Jamie’s week was very different as he moved swims chasing topping fish.
He broke his P.B. twice during the week but really failed to get amongst ‘em! He says like Arnie…”I’ll be back !” That’s the spirit!
What a treat the new anglers have got for them the following week with Peg 1 fishing its socks off !!
The following week saw the Bywaters party. These keen as mustard anglers were delighted to find the lake fishing well.
The first days saw some good fish out with a few high 30’s coming from the Tree Tops swim and Number One. Then as seemingly all British anglers do they pile in the bait and spend hours with the marker rod and spod rod. The noise created from these rods I’m sure causes the fish to move from the area and get easily “spooked”
The fishing seemed to go right off the boil and the bait kept going in. The anglers on the Tree Tops Swim kept the baiting a lot lighter and had some really nice fish throughout the week.
The week finished with only 10 fish ( Carp) coming out from around the whole lake. There were plenty of Sturgeon and a few smaller Cats out but the Carp were not having it?
The weather must have played a major part in the catch rate as the water level rose steadily during the week. This will have bought fresh, cold water in the from the underneath water table and effected the fishing.
Needless to say there was no need to slag the place off to the new anglers arriving for a weeks fishing first thing Saturday morning !!!
“Only 10 fish out all week mate” said the bloke from the Number One Swim. “ Crap place “ Ahh well…good job the new anglers are all regulars and know better !!
Can you imagine moving on to a swim that has had over 70 runs in the previous week only to have a couple of carp out in the next 7 days !!! You have to put the blame somewhere don’t you ? Why not the lake.??? Of course ..Never the Angler !
Just to say that the new boys on peg One have had a great time with plenty of fish. In fact, the weekend saw over 20 fish out with 3 x 40’s to 46lbs coming out !!!
All this weeks anglers want to say thank you to the guys from last week and say if this lake is crap then what is a good lake like????
I’ll give a full report on the this weeks group next week with some of the photo’s also……..

Bills Lake 2
This little lake gets the thumbs up again with the Armriding couple getting some really great fish. They finished the last week of their fortnight with more 30's and big smiles. They are back agin next year I think to do battle again?
By the way, they only fished the days !
The next week saw the Theobald family have a good week with the weather doing all sorts of things.....
Agian fishing only the days Mr.T. took his first fish of 38lbs 8ozs in just 10 minutes of fishing !! He continued to catch consistantly all week when he felt like it and enjoyed spending quality time with his family. He get to see his daughter, Poppy, ride her bike for the first time without the stabalizers !!!!! Great result !!
So far this week the boyz and Dad have had 11 fish to 34lbs.
Again, I'll report more next week.

Bills Lake 3
This lake has been very qiet over the month of August with just Mr.Pagan and his son fishing for the week of the 19th to the 26th.
Mr.P did his P.B. with a Carp of 39lbs 8ozs and his son had a couple of Carp to over 20lbs along with some quality Tench and Bream.
The biggest Bream we've had out is 12lbs 8ozs !!
Alex and I then had a result with a night session resulting in a 41lbs "lake record for me and a 38lbs Mirror for Alex. Both the fish were from the No.1 swim and fell to B.L.S. boilies.
Next week sees the Adams group fish this lake so after the very little pressure it should fish its socks off !!!
The weed is slowly going and Mr.Pagan has said that the best way he found to land fish was to use lead clips so the lead breaks away free from the line and therefor doesn't snag in the weed.
"No problem with landing fish at all !" He says. You need a lot of leads though.
