NEW LAKE RECORD...............
"Twagg" fishing from the Poachers swim has banked his 4th ever Carp only and a new Lake record of 58lbs 12ozs !!!!
More huge fish out this week.....
news very soon.
17th - 24th May.
Aide's group arrived along with Tony and his missus and some regulars from 2 years ago.
The fishing started off very well with 2 x 46lbs + Mirrors comming out.
By the end of the week most of the anglers had well beaten their P.B's and had a great week !!! A good laugh was had by all!! The night out at the local chip shop prooved a great sucess even though Chelsea did loose !! Fancy drinking them out of beer ??? They'll get more in next time a group of anglers go out for a drink !!
Jools and his brother hads great fish with P.B's and the lads on Tree Tops has 2 great fish to just under 50lbs at the end of the week.
Well done all......a great week.
I won't mention the hook pulls....
10th -17th May.
Strange how things change over a week.....
15 ish out the previous week and 15 fish out thefirst night with the new group on. Why ??? I wish I knew !
All the anglers had a good week with many smashing their P.B's.
Several fish to 49lbs+ graced the banks and tht was topped off with 2 x 50lbs Mirrors !!! 1 was the biggest out this season at 56lbs 8ozs. Well done Baz !
Big Dave and his group fished hard as usual but didn't really get in amonst'em.!
The biggest fish of the week went 40lbs 12ozs. The fish were showing all over the place but just weren't getting down on the bait.
A good time was had by all despite the tough going.
Interesting that although they had only 15 fish out during the whole week the new group just on has landed 13 fish on the first night !!!!!!how strange is that ??
We've found him...50 not out !

Bills Lake 2
17th - 24th May
Nice new group on who took several fish during the week.I'm a little shady on details as no ctch return sheets were left......
The caravn was left in a fantastic state..Ruth had to do nothing to clean it..she says thanks very much ! xxxx
Alex, my French friend, fished the lake the Friday evening as the group had pulled off early(no ...not to Amsterdam !)He took 2 fish on Tigers, a 32 Mirror and a 36lbs Common. This was all early evening with nothing else out during the night. Both fish came from baits placed against the margins.
10th-17th May
Regular anglers of the Cummings party arrived to find the lake well down but still with the caravan bank too muddy to fish.
This didn't stop them with fish coming out from the Sunday right through to the last day.
1 angler had a a 40lbs+ Mirror...his 1st Carp !!! What a lucky buggar.
Was their sucess due to the guitar playing each evening or.......?
3rd to the 10th May.
The 2 anglers fishing this week did reasonably well with fish to only +26lbs. Again, a lot of fish moving but not really having it. Is this beacause the water is deeper than most and takes longer to warm up???
The water in the lake is still higher than would be ideal but by next week the levels will be down to normal.
(1st 40lbs+ mirror out along with several 30lbs+ to new group on....)

Bills Lake 3
17th - 24th May
Hi Bill
Thanks for a fantastic week of fishing on Lake 3, the weather was great, location was great and to be honest i cant grumble about the fishing too.
Anyway, our week went a bit like this,
We arrived on the lake a little bit later than expected on the 17th May, and we pitched up on peg 1, it was a great swim with a lot of 'carpy' looking areas to fish to, after introducing ourselves to the other anglers we finally got some bait into the water, and to be honest i was very surprised to have a run within 30min of setting up without even baiting the swim, but unfortunately he got away (grrrrrrrrr), but the next day proved to be different 9:30am one of the rods screamed away and Cex landed a personal best Carp of a 21lb common (he didn't stop smiling and talking about it for hours), i then landed a few tench to an impressive 6lb and a Carp of 9lb but again we were missing a lot of fish, but as we both have only been carp fishing for a year we did not know what we were doing wrong, and with the help of Bill adjusting our set up and giving us fantastic advice, our fishing could only get better (THANK YOU).
Monday Cex's rod screamed away once again and not only was it another carp it was another personal best this time a 21lb 10oz mirror, now you can imagine how much bragging he was doing, we also landed a few more tench and 1 or 2 bream. As the week went on the fishing got harder but there still was a few quality fish coming out i managed to bank a few carp of 13lb, 15lb and 16lb, but to keep our hopes up of that memorable carp peg 4 managed to bank carp of 40lb and 42lb so there was still hope. then Wednesday at 9:30pm disaster struck (i will never forget it, it was a horrible moment) my rod screamed away half way across the lake and i was into a monster, i played it for 20min and when i finally saw him turn in the water it was the biggest fish i had ever seen, and as i played him closer to the net it spat the hook out like an unwanted chewing gum the little b*****d, you can truly imagine what happened next, i threw my rod in the hedge and sulked in the bivvy for the rest of the night.
But all was not lost, as we were packing up on Friday evening ready for the long journey back to Wales, i did manage to break my personal best with a lovely carp of 29lb 5oz also a bream of 11lb happy days, so have a guess who was bragging all the way home.
So overall taking into account we are only beginners to carping we did manage to land 16 fish with 2 personal bests, it was truly a fantastic week with quality fishing, also with the help of Bill who was absolutely marvellous to us all week we cant thank him enough for everything he done for us.
So this is until next year where there are more PB's available (fingers crossed).
Thanks Bill
Cheers
Emyr and Cex (The Welsh Boys)
Thanks Lads ! I've put a pic on for you !..Bill.
Pete Mate fished the river this week and took over 100 fish !!! A mixed bag of Chub and Barbel with no Carp showing at all. I think they are up stream in spawning grounds? But they'll return soon I'm sure.
10th to the 17th May
Chris Dawes and his group had a ball with some really impressive fish out.
The biggest of these was a fine Mirror of 42lbs followed by another 40lbs+ fish !! this along with 40+ other fish, super weather and cool beer(good fridges ehh?) made for a great week. Sorry we couldn't find you a t.v. to show the Doncaster match????
3rd to the 10th May

just got back from bills lakes excellent venue both bill and ruth are very freindly and go the extra yard 2 make you feel welcome.had 2 leave after 2 days has my m8 had to go to hospital which bill put himself out his way to help him.was catching plenty of carp before we had 2 go biggest was 35lb. Facilities are great showers toilets were very clean.thumbs up all the way will be regular customers now found our venue.
went to bills last saturday(3rd) to fish lake 3
just to give you all a bit of background my previous fishing experience has been mainly heavily stocked commercials! i had never done overnight carp fishing before never mind a trip to france so everything i have to say is from this experience alone and have nothing to compare it with. I'm no carp fisherman by a long way so don't tthink i'm telling you how to fish. everything i have to say is just from my first hand experience.
after we arrived at Bills and were taken to lake 3 by Bill. the first impressions were really good. Apparantly the water levels were still high but to me the lake still looked picturesque and couldn't wait to get started.Bill gave us a tour explaining recent catches/methods etc but what impressed me was he was giving advice but not trying to sell you owt i.e bait etc . I genuinely got the impression he wanted us to have a good time and this with his daily visits and advice made me think... top bloke.
Anyway.fishing started and in the first 24 hours i didn't catch a thing!! my mate had 2 sturgeon and some bream and the guys in peg 4 (i was in 2) were emptying the place!!
So for comfort reasons and due to the now falling water levels i moved to peg 1 on day 2.Straight away i was in and that evenining had a new PB of 36LB. over the remainder of the week. having come to france with a pb of 18lb had 11 twenties and 3 thirties for a total of 25 carp. I also had bream to 12lb and tench to 8 for a total of 31 fish for the week. All this after saying to bill on the first day i'd be chuffed with a 20!.
All in all we had a fantastic week.Started fishing with 2 other groups who were both a great bunch of lads. unfortunately one of the groups had to return home for health reasons after 2 days so missed out.
To sum it all up tho the guys who did 2 days(peg 6) had about 10 fish biggest about 35.5.the 2 great blokes in peg 4 who really new what they were doing had 46 fish to just under 40 and my mate who moved onto peg 6 after the other lads had left had 20 odd fish biggest 37lb.
Every fish apart from 1 i caught was on 2 grains of popped up by an inch sweetcorn fished over a mixture of scalded pellet/hemp and BCUK partiblend.the guys in peg 4 caught off their own boilies however on the last day fished pop up corn and caught well.
I just need to mention the service provided by bill - in my eyes a top bloke.bait batteries replaced evey day.facilities clean and good quality.but the best thing for me and i have to give this a bit of air as one or two seem to have being giving bill bad credibility. was- our bait boat(french manufactured) developed a fault. rang the uk distributor he said he'd send an engineer to see us!!... gave him bills number.. the guy turned up at bills lake 1 ..bill personally escorted him to my peg, translated for me and also offered the use of his house for soldering facilities.the bait boat was fixed (top sevice anatec) and i was happy..hows that for service from both sides?!
right..... i'm not a good enough angler to class myself to give advice but heres some opinions;-
bills lake, bill, ruth and the facilities are excellent
use pop up corn at lake 3 it works!! the lake dropped by about 3' in the time we were there so maybe the high vis bait was the one
This is a defo!!!!!!......a bait boat will catch you more fish. i only fished 2 lines one of them a difficult cast the other unreachable without a bait boat due to it being under overhanging trees.EVERY fish on all pegs from our week came from the far margin.if you going there don't do what i did and be a all giddy and just cast in.. my advice would be to get your group and walk around the whole lake. you can see the fish and the gravel bars this way.don't be afraid to walk around the non fishing bank and go through the trees to look in.take some binos'.. well worth it.however don't be decieved by loads of fish being around peg 6 during the hot hours..they won't feed ..they,re just showing you whats on offer!!
on my trip i had a few mad hours between 6-9 am steady during the day and mad from 7 til nightfall.couldn't catch a thing on floaters!!
soon as you hit a fish lift your rod high (lost 17 fish also during my week... crap angler i know!!) don't feed too much as you'll have quiet periods anyway. the fish tend to follow the wind so you'll be able to tell when the winds away from you you won't be catching .
take loads of plastic sweetcorn
make sure you take you own suncream and mossy repellant... it costs a fortune at the chemist down the road! the supermarket prices are ok though.
And again can't stress this enough.. take or hire a bait boat.
Don't know if bill reads this crap but if you do thanks for everything mate.. but you know we enjoyed it as we;ve already booked on for next year
