Chops and Hemp
First, find a spot you feel is a good place. Either a nice clear gravel patch or a little plateau. Then cast to that spot and mark your line so that you know the next time you are right on the spot. You can mark your line with Power Gum or even electrical tape so you get the distance right every time.
Each time you hit the spot in the future put some freebies around the baited area. A small amount would be a Coffee cup size and no more. A good mix being 50% of each Chops and Hemp. As a hookbait you could use a glugged boile/hooker pellet or even a small hair of Maize….3 to4 pieces should do. With that in place then it’s down to the oldest carp fishing tactic in the book…..Patience! If there is no action in a couple of hours then re-do everything again with the same amounts of freebies but perhaps try a different hookbait? Of course the best way to present you offering and hookbait is by Baitboat as it is so accurate and gets right to the spot!
Small Bag and Paste
This method can be very effective when the water is cooler. By covering a boilie with some Paste and then attatching a small P.V.A. bag of Pellets can and has indeed worked well. This can be fished almost anywhere around the lake but regular casts during the day would be recommended. This hunts out perhaps carp that are still a little dormant after the winter or those who want something a little different. |

Tigers
These are a great bait providing of course they are firstly prepared correctly and secondly you don’t overdo it! We have found and can’t stress enough that freshly prepared Tigers will “always” outcatch the tinned variety. Not that they don’t work but they are more of a last resort! A single Tiger on a hair with a size 4 hook cast to your chosen spot with free offering scattered about is always worth a bet.
Whatever style of fishing you choose at Bill’s Lake the scatter approach to bait seems to work well while the guys who come over and PILE IT IN sit and wait…and wait…and wait…need I say more.
You are the one fishing, you are the one who has paid the money to fish and you can fish it how you like. These are just some suggestions. If it all goes wrong, you’ve put it in…you can’t take it out!
I hope this helps a little?
